Rain Fades In Grey

Rain Fades In Grey

Radio Massacre International is a British trio of Steve Dinsdale (keyboards, electronics, drums), Duncan Goddard (keyboards, electronics, bass) and Gary Houghton (guitar, synthesizers). These three musicians have worked together in various configurations since they were 16 year old students in the 70's and formed R.M.I. in 1993. Their second Cuneiform release (and the band's 27th overall) is something quite different from the band's previous work. Best known for electronic space music for keyboards, electronics and guitars, here Radio Massacre have expanded greatly upon their usual sound and also use conventional rock instrumentation, adding bass and drums, to create a sincere and moving tribute to Syd Barrett, and in doing so, manage to capture some of the psychedelic magic of 1967-1968. This album features a really striking cover by Daevid Allen, which is also a hommage to Syd.Radio Massacre International Explains:This album is our way of saying goodbye and thanks to a genuine one-off. His passing had an unexpectedly profound effect, despite the fact that he hadn't been near a guitar in more than 30 years. It forced us to consider what an enormous influence he was, despite his space-ageascendancy and equally rapid burnout. He picked up a zippo lighter, invented glissando guitar...

Radio Massacre International is the British trio of Steve Dinsdale (electronics, percussion) Duncan Goddard (electronics, bass) and Gary Houghton (guitar, electronics). These three musicians formed R.M.I. in 1993. They have released a daunting number of CDs, all on tiny UK labels, as well as two previous, highly acclaimed albums for Cuneiform. They take their musical cues from the classic 1970s "Berlin electronic sound" of Klaus Schulze, Ash Ra and Tangerine Dream. This is over 2 1/2 hours of music for a single CD price.

Borrowed Atoms

Borrowed Atoms

Radio Massacre International is a trio of British musicians, Steve Dinsdale (Keyboards and Drums), Duncan Goddard (Keyboards and Bass), and Gary Houghton (Guitar, Synth). They specialize in improvisational experimental electronic music, utilising vintage synthesizers and sampled sounds alongside electric guitar. They are also leading exponents of the mellotron keyboard. More recently they have begun to incorporate Bass Guitar and Drums by varying degrees in an attempt to stretch musical boundaries within the confines of a three piece. Their music has been described alternatively as ambient music, space rock, Krautrock, New Age, Berlin School, and various other terms, although the band itself prefers the label "organic music". Points of reference include bands ranging from Tangerine Dream to "Rabbit"-era Chas and Dave. Borrowed Atoms, a double CD from 1998, was a return to extended improvisation. On these seven pieces there are guitar loops from Duncan, sequencers from Steve and synthesizers from Gary alongside their more established roles; the emphasis on capturing complete performances. Over two hours of music.

Radio Massarcre International - Rain Falls in a Different Way (CD)

NOTE: THIS IS AN AUDIO CD RELEASE, NOT VINYL. If you're at all familiar with our output, you'll have noticed that we sometimes release "companion" sets shortly after a title is published. Well, here's another one. Sessions began in late 2005 for what became Rain Falls In Grey & these asre some of the pieces that didn't seem to belong there. So here they are on their own disc, though there is a small overlap near the middle if you listen hard.
