Union Pacific

Union Pacific

Union Pacific is a train-themed stock market game. On each turn, players must choose between expanding a company to increase its value and adding a share of stock to their hand, or playing stock onto the table from their hand to increase their ownership of one or two companies. There are four semi-random scoring events, in which the first and second place share holder in each company are paid dividends. Only stock that has been previously played onto the table is considered during the scoring rounds. Union Pacific is a special company whose shares are claimed according to special rules. Union Pacific is not represented on the board but instead pays dividends to all share holders according to a fixed progression chart. Money is only used to track victory conditions and cannot be spent during the game. The winner is the player with the most money at the end of the game.

Kato USA Model Train Products Union Pacific FEF-3 Steam Locomotive #844 Train

The Union Pacific FEF (four eight four) is easily one of the most recognizable us steam prototypes still in operation today. The FEF-3 series of steam locomotives was delivered in 1944 and were the last, and some of the largest, steam locomotives used by the Union Pacific. Operated solely by the Union Pacific, the FEF's were intended primarily to be passenger locomotives but the Up's large fleet of available diesels meant that the FEF's were put to work in secondary passenger and fast freight service. Today, FEF-3 #844 (at some times during history also known as #8444 to avoid numbering conflictions with a diesel loco) survives to pull excursion trains as a publicity locomotive for the Union Pacific, and is one the Up's oldest operating locomotives having never been retired from service.

Union Pacific-opoly

Union Pacific-opoly

A game for train lovers across America. More than 140 years ago, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Pacific Railroad Act. With this historic stroke of a pen, the stage was set for Union Pacific to open the American West to settlers and, in the process, connect a continent. The transcontinental route heralded the Industrial Revolution and modernized transportation, turning the grueling, six-month, $1,000 journey from New York to San Francisco into a week long trip costing a mere $70. It took an army of 20,000 men, working 12 to 16 hours a day, seven days a week, for six years, to connect America east to west by rail. It was a remarkable feat, as the system was built primarily by hand. With the driving of the Golden Spike on May 10, 1869, the route was complete, and a vast, largely unpopulated region was poised for growth. Today, the 50,000 men and women of Union Pacific still connect America’s communities, transporting the raw materials and finished goods that keep our economy, and our country, moving. Tokens include: Railroad crossing signal, Engineer’s cap, Golden Spike, Caboose, Locomotive, and a Lantern.
